Respect In Sport
A reminder to all OMHA hockey parents to ensure at least one parent is up to date and certified in the Hockey Alberta Respect in Sport. If you have recently re-certified please ensure it is attached to your Hockey Canada profile.
Also Respect in Sport coach does expire so if you originally completed this training prior to the 2016/2017 season you will need to redo it prior to the upcoming season if you plan on coaching.
Q-Does OMHA reimburse the $12 for the course? Is there an association code for me to enter.
A-No OMHA does not reimburse parents for the RIS parent course. There is not an association code
Q-I recently took the Respect in Sport activity leader course. So my players profile should be up to date.
A-The Respect in Sport Parent course is different than the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders. All player must have the Respect in Sport parent course on their Hockey Canada profile
Q-I recently took the course, so I must have received this notice in error.
A-Please log into your account to confirm that ALL of your players are listed. Every players account was looked up and if you are received the email you have one or more players without a valid course attached.
Q-I didn’t know the course expired?
A-As of this season Hockey Alberta implemented and expiry date on the Respect in sport courses. The course is now valid for 4 year. Any course taken before the 2016-2017 season has now expired.
Q-I am having trouble logging in.

Q-Do both parents need to take the course?
A-No only one parent is required to take the course
Q-If I show you my certificate is that good enough?
A-No, sorry I cannot add certificate numbers to players profiles. If you have a certificate showing the course has been taken but you received an email please check to make sure that all your players are added to your account. If they are then please contact the help desk so they can look into the issue for you.
Q-I have taken the RIS parent course for another sport or with my employer. Can I use this number?
A-Please contact the RIS help desk and they can check to see if the course is transferable. If it is they will add it to your account.
Q- We are on holiday’s can I complete the course when I return?
A- Yes, that is not a problem. Please email me once the course has been completed/added with your players name and division.
